LECTURE
Week 7Colour TheoryColour theory is both the science and art of using color. It explains how human perceive color and the messages that is given by each colours.
There are two types of colour wheels:- CMYK (Cyan, magenta, Yellow, Black): Primary colors of printing- RGB (Red, Green, Blue): Color used to display on your computer screen
RGBRGB is a additive color mixing model. The colours are created my mixing red, green and blue light sources of various intensities.
CMYK is subtractive color mixing model. The colours are created by the subtraction of light.
In colours there are hue, shade, tint and tone. Hue is the most basic of color terms, the pure color. Shade is a hue that has been added with black. Tint is a hue that is added by white. Lastly, tone is a color which has been added with either white or grey.
Colour HarmonyColour harmony is the arrangement of the colors in design in the most attractive and effective way for users' perception.
AnalogousAnalogous are 3 colors located right next to each other on the color wheel.
ComplementaryColours that are the opposite on the colour wheel. This color harmony produces high contrast.
Split-ComplementaryThe use of three colours. Find its complement color and then use the two colours on either side of it.
TriadicTriadic colors are evenly spaced around the color wheel and tend to be very bright and dynamic.

Sketch
Removing Subject from the Background
|
In this step I removed the background, because I needed to alter remove the top of the head without disturbing the background. So I created a background that is similar to the original photo.
Here I started to do editing for the head, I just cut half off the head and removing it. Then using the pen tool to create a shape, to give out the effect of it being hollow space. Then detailing it using blending options > bevel and emboss to create a dimension/volume to the edge of the head.
| Adding relevant elements (Atomic Bomb Smoke) |
| Adding relevant elements (Books and Files) |
The next step is to put elements that is relevant to my theme which is stress and overwhelmingness during the pandemic. I decided to use atomic bomb smoke as the first element. It shows that the head could not handle it any longer and exploded. Then I added another element which is rusty gears. I want to show that, the head mechanism is not working anymore and it is on a critical condition (rust). Next is the files and books. In here, I want to show that due to the amount of work that people have during the pandemic is the cause of the stress and overwhelmingness. The pile of books or files shows that there are too much work to be handled during this pandemic situation.
Lastly, I decided to add a smoke effect using a brush tool. This is to add more dramatization to the poster and more details on what is going on. I want to show that the brain is overheating creating smokes showing stressed.
| Poster Draft 1 |
Then I added title, 'The New Normal' and some research done on increasing level of stress during the pandemic. The title 'The New Normal' wants to give the expression of feeling stressed and overwhelmed in this current situation is a normal thing, especially with the increasing number of people saying that they are stress and overwhelmed. Then I added a small caption at the bottom left, to give a brief explanation of what the poster is about. Also, the aim of this poster is to show people that are going through this problem does not struggling through this problem alone.
At the end, I thought that the word NORMAL is not really visible. So I decided to give it a shadow to create more contrast which will help the readability of the word.
