Final Project: Motion Graphic

INSTRUCTIONS



Our final project was assigned to us from the start of the semester. This project is a group project, so we are assigned to different groups. We are expected to do a motion for sex education. Mr. Martin has given us a choice between two topics, and we decide to go with the topic Your Body. We are provided with the voice-over and script of the motion graphics, however, we needed to design our own storyboard and motion graphics. 


Then, we're told to discuss with the other members to talk about how to visualize sensitive topics into a design that would be accepted for all ages. 

Then after doing the sensitive parts of the motion graphic, we are also told to sketch the scene for parts that seem to be challenging to us.

After that, we proceed to break down the transcript into scene per scene. Then divide the breakdown for each member to create a sketch for the storyboard.


After a feedback session from Mr. Martin, Esther divided the group into the animation team and the illustration team. I have chosen to go to the animation team because I think I am more capable of doing animation compared to illustration.

We in the animation group divide the illustration into 3 parts. Then I proceed to edit the illustrations. There were some problems at first due to a lack of communication with the illustration team, regarding layer naming and parts that need to be separated to be animated. However, in the end, it is fixed and I continue to animate.











For the animation, there is not a lot to talk about, because What I use for animation are just positioning, scale, opacity, and more. Then some adjustments to the speed of the animation per element. I did the animation part per part and continue to compile it on Premiere Pro. Then, in the premiere I added sound effects to parts like coming in, coming out, and more. Then finish it up by compiling all the animated illustrations in premiere pro.

After submitting, Mr. Martin gave us feedback that, it needs more sound effects on the video, if not add a piece of background music.

REFLECTION

From this project, I learned how to work in groups and how to manage a team of illustrators and animators. Learning ways that would be more effective when working in groups for these kinds of projects. Also, there will be misunderstandings and miscommunications between members on the timeline of the projects.

Illustration & Visual Narrative - Task 2

We are told to create a minimalist poster defining the decisive moment of the scene from an existing narrative. Also we are expected to create a looping animated gif of the design.
