FINAL PROJECT

For our final output, we as a group decided to divide it into two parts. The first one is to create a digital artwork that expresses an issue that is in the community. For example, racial discrimination, misogyny, etc. The second part is to help someone from the rapping community to visualize their songs. In our interview Jarrod (Harelia), has agreed for us to create his cover for his future single and his merchandise if it were to be printed.

Evaleez decided to work on an artwork that will sum up the issue of racial discrimination and Esther will be creating an artwork reflecting on misogyny.

Arwinda, Audrey, and I will be the ones who is in charge of creating the album cover and merchandise. So because we are going to visualize his song, we asked for his lyrics to be able to see the message he wanted to give out.

After receiving the song lyrics and requests from him Arwinda started to create the mood board for the album cover.

After creating a mood board for the album cover, we decided to with this sketch:

Album cover Sketch

So in this sketch, the concept is to express the lyrics of his song. he is talking about trying to fulfill his dreams of becoming a rapper and to prove all the haters. Therefore, in this idea, it can be seen that a figure reaching out to the sun symbolize the dreams that he is going for. Then I  start to create a rough draft so the group can visualize it better.

Album cover Rough Draft

After getting approval from every member of the group, I tried to refine the work and use elements that are suitable for a final project.

On the rough draft, I use the solid color black as the background. However, I think that it is too plain and it needs more texture to it. Because it is a Sun, I decided to use the background of the galaxy for the background.

After making the background I added the sun to the frame.

Then I added the subject and hands on the bottom of the screen. These hands will be representing the haters and struggles that he has gone through throughout his career on wanting to achieve his dreams.

Then added the logo of Haerlia which is made by Audrey. Then after asking for feedback from the group, Eva suggested trying to make the subject bigger and getting pulled by the hands. So I did another draft for the cover.

After finishing two drafts we decided to go with the first draft as our final album cover design.

FEEDBACK

Week 6: Instead of an album cover, can the team use the genre as a whole

Example: A set of digital outwork that speak about discrimination /spread positivity/ creativity
Produce a series of artwork that reflect them^ (expressive artworks)
