Application Design II - Task 1

 INSTRUCTIONS

For task 1 we are expected to reflect on our previous task from application design I. To see what are we lacking in terms of UI/UX design from our app re-design. From there, we are told to fix the mistakes that we have made.

TASK 1

Here are some of the things that I find in my design that needs to be improved on:

Before

1. Iconography
As you can see, the icons that I previously used are not consistent. A lot of the icons are not similar and lacked a coherent style and meaning. This made the app feel disjointed.

2. Colors
From the feedback I got from Mr. Razif, he asked why is there a lot of grey colors. At first, grey is one of the colors included in the color palette. He said that the use of the color grey made the app look unfinished.

3. Text Size (too small)
At some parts of the page, there are some texts that are too small to read. This happens because there is a lot of information needed to be combined on one page, so I tried to fit in all the information within.

4. UI Layout
Looking back at the design of the layout, there are a lot of coherent shapes used in the app. Some are sharps edges shapes some are rounded. Also, the design feels unfinished and ugly.

To tackle these mistakes, these are my goals to proceed with this project:
  1. Change Layout (making the shapes similar and coherent)
  2. Colors - change the grey areas into proper color, remove the gradient colors into solid colors
  3. Text - Rearrange the text, follow the text hierarchy
  4. Icons - change all of the icons, into icons that are similar in size and style
